Russia's Oscars nomination commission said it chose Fyodor Bondarchuk's World War II drama "Stalingrad" as its entry for the foreign-language Academy Award. The film tells the story of Soviet soldiers battling Nazi Germans during the Battle of Stalingrad, RIA Novosti reported Saturday. "We've decided to put forward 'Stalingrad,'" producer Yevgeny Gidilis said Friday. "Stalingrad" is Russia's first movie made entirely with 3-D technology, the newspaper said. It had a $30 million budget. If Bondarchuk wins the Oscar for best foreign-language film, he'd be the second person in his family to do so. His father, Sergei Bondarchuk, won the best foreign-language Oscar in 1968 for his adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace."
