Pierce Brosnan played James Bond in four films from 1995 to 2002. But he doesn't think very highly of his own take on the iconic secret agent. Now 60, Brosnan recently told the Telegraph that he can't bear to watch himself in the films. "It's just never good enough," he said. "It's a horrible feeling." The actor also said that his predecessors were hard to follow, but also blamed his own insecurities. "I felt I was caught in a time warp between Roger [Moore] and Sean [Connery]," he added. "It was a very hard one to grasp the meaning of, for me. The violence was never real, the brute force of the man was never palpable. It was quite tame, and the characterization didn't have a follow-through of reality, it was surface. But then that might have had to do with my own insecurities in playing him as well." Brosnan was followed by Craig, who was initially seen as too "blond" for the role, but was eventually praised for his darker, more "culturally relevant" take on 007. "Daniel [Craig] is James Bond; I was James Bond; I think there's enough room on the stage to elbow my way in and find some audience," Brosnan said.
