Nick Gordon will respect the wishes of Bobbi Kristina Brown's family and will stay away from the Atlanta hospital where his longtime girlfriend remains comatose and on life support, his lawyers say.
"In response to reports that Nick Gordon is taking legal action, he would like it to be clear, he is not," Gordon's attorneys Randy Kessler and Joe Habachy told Us Weekly in a joint statement Friday.
"Mr. Gordon's only concern is the recovery of Bobbi Kristina," the statement said. "He remains in constant prayer for his companion and he hopes to be reunited with her soon. Despite the incredible public interest, we ask and hope that this request can be resolved privately by Mr. Gordon and the family."
Brown is the 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston and her ex-husband Bobby Brown. She has been on life support for nearly two weeks after she was found facedown and unresponsive in her bathtub at home. The circumstances of her medical emergency remain under investigation.
Police reportedly are looking into whether Bobbi Kristina Brown and Gordon had an altercation shortly before she was discovered in distress. Also being considered is whether a recent car crash in which Brown was involved might have played some factor.
Although Gordon and Bobbi Kristina Brown publicly referred to each other as spouses, Bobby Brown clarified quickly after his daughter's hospitalization that she was never married to Gordon, whom Houston raised as an unofficially adopted son.
Houston accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub while intoxicated Feb. 11, 2012. She was 48.
