Los Angeles – UPI

Little People, Big World couple Matt and Amy Roloff have announced their intent to separate. The two stated in an interview with People magazine that they plan to separate after 26 years together. "Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation," the couple told the publication. Although the two intend to distance their relationship, Matt Roloff will not be far away. "Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together everyday on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children," Amy told the magazine. The Roloffs came to fame on the TLC reality series Little People, Big World. The couple have four children -- twins Jeremy and Zach, 23, Molly, 20, and Jacob, 17 -- and the show documents the family's everyday life. Three family members, Matt, Amy, and Zach, are diagnosed with dwarfism. Matt and Amy will address their recent decision in an upcoming TV special, set to air on March 25. "Last year...was long and tough," Matt says in a clip from the upcoming special. "Amy and I had a lot of tension so...I thought I would move over to the bridal house." He continues, "Amy and I stuck it out for years and years when maybe we shouldn't have... We needed to try something different." "I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learn to live together," Amy adds. "It's not my choice for him to leave... We don't have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out so it's not going to be easy." The couple expressed their dedication to their children in the interview, and also thanked those close to them. "We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support, understanding and prayers from our family, friends and many fans," the Roloffs stated.
