Paris - UPI
French director Georges Lautner, best known for his box-office hit "Les Tontons Flingueurs," has died in Paris, Radio France Internationale reported. He was 87. Lautner died Friday at his home after a period of poor health, the news agency said. The filmmaker had a career spanning 60 years. He directed 50 films, including "Les Tontons Flingueurs," which Wednesday celebrates 50 years since its theatrical release. The film is regularly shown on French television and its quick-fire wit is often quoted by the French, RFI said. Lautner worked with film icons Jean-Paul Delmondo, Alain Delon and Mireille Darc.
