Film noir actress Audrey Totter dies at 95

Film noir actress Audrey Totter passed away at the West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in California, her daughter said. She was 95. Totter, who starred in the 1940s films "Lady in the Lake," "The Set-Up" and "High Wall," died Thursday after suffering a stroke and suffered from congestive heart failure, the Hollywood Reporter reported. The Joliet, Ill., native started her career in entertainment in 1944 as a radio actress in Chicago and New York. She then went on to work in films, her breakthrough role coming in 1947 in "Lady in the Lake." Totter married her husband, Leo Fred, in the early 1950s and moved on to concentrate on raising a family. She did continue to make occasional appearances on television shows, including "Cimarron City," "Our Man Higgins" and "Medical Center." Her final role came on an episode of "Murder, She Wrote" in 1987.
