Bear Grylls
Los Angeles - UPI

'Bear Grylls has offered advice on how to survive extreme situations in movies.

The 40-year-old adventurer detailed survival techniques for Sharknado, The Hunger Games and more in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Sharknado sees shark-infested waters flood Los Angeles, while The Hunger Games pits 24 young people against each other in a televised battle to the death.
"If you're in the water with a shark, it's about portraying confidence," Grylls advised. "It sows doubt in the shark's mind, so the first thing is confidence. Second thing is if you are being attacked is to go for the gills, the eyes or the nose, hitting, striking hard, you can shout at it under water."
"The truth is, you got great whites flying through the air and they're all coming towards you, you're a little bit screwed," he continued of Sharknado. "You got to take cover, I suppose. Get a big strong stick, go for the gills and the eyes and the nose. Same principles!"
In a Hunger Games arena, Grylls said one's priorities should be the same as being stranded in the desert or the jungle: protection, rescue, water and food.
"Number one is protection," he asserted. "The best way to protect yourself is to get a weapon. Then your next priority is rescue. Well, you can't get out of [the Hunger Games], so you're stuck in it, so your next priority then is water. And three minutes without air, three days without water, three weeks without food. So once you got your weapon, you got the high ground, then it's about water."
Grylls himself has survived with little or no supplies on his reality series Man vs. Wild. He currently hosts Running Wild with Bear Grylls, which sees him take celebrities on 48-hour adventures in the wilderness. The program airs Mondays on NBC, and the featured stars include Zac Efron, Channing Tatum, Ben Stiller, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, actor Tom Arnold and Today host Tamron Hall.
