Amman - Petra
Jordan Electric Power Company JEPCO staff staged a sit-in in front of parliament on Sunday demanding improving their living conditions and that the government halt the policy of raising prices. President of JEPCO employees independent union Ahmad Marie said the protesters had submitted a list of demands to Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour who backed them and ordered formation of a special panel to look into their grievances. The protesters also said they opposed a plan to sell JEPCO to a foreign investor and demanded that the company remain national and their rights and benefits be protected.
