White House: Supports year-long lifting of debt limit

The White House said Monday it supports legislation planned by Senate Democrats that would extend the debt limit for one year. Such a time period would remove uncertainty in financial markets created by the risk of U.S. default, spokesman Jay Carney told reporters.
