Washington - QNA

Senior US and Yemeni officials met at the WhiteHouse on Monday for a discussion on how the Obama Administration "can partnerwith the international community to support the Yemeni government's near-term economic reform goals," according to a statement from the National SecurityCouncil.Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, LisaMonaco, met with Yemeni Minister of Finance Sakhir Wajih and Minister of Planningand International Cooperation Mohammed Saadi, where she underscored the US"commitment to support Yemen's economic reform and development agenda as akey component of the country's transition process." Monaco also praised YemeniPresident Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and his government as they "move forward withthe economic reforms outlined in Yemen's Mutual Accountability Framework tobetter address the needs of all Yemenis." While the US and Yemen share strong ties,President Barack Obama's drone attacks have devastated the nation of nearly 25million people, where missiles have killed dozens of families - particularly in remoteareas - instead of Al-Qaeda terrorists, which are said to be the intended targets.Washington has come under attack for its 'silent war' and deadly counterterrorismmeasures, many of which have occurred in cooperation with the government inSanaa.
