US unemployment rate drops to 9.0%

The US unemployment rate dropped slightly to 9.0 percent last month, the Labor Department reported Friday, adding that 80,000 jobs were created. There were heavy upward revisions for previous months as the rate came in broadly in line with analysts' estimates for October.
