US: Portugal on track to economic recovery

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said that Portugal is on the right track to economic recovery, AP reported. Alongside Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Portas in Washington, Clinton said that she applauded the austerity measures that Portugal has already undertaken to fix its economy. Portugal is one of a number of European countries that has sought bailouts to cope with high debt. Portas said that Portugal would emerge from its economic troubles. He said: "We will win this battle against the debt."
