US files WTO challenge on China chicken duties

The United States said on Tuesday it was challenging steep Chinese duties on U.S. poultry as a violation of World Trade Organization rules, Reuters reported. U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk told reporters the United States believes the duties were wrongfully imposed and threaten the jobs of some 300,000 American workers. U.S. trade officials said the duties had caused a 90 percent drop in poultry exports to China.
