Turkey-Lebanon vehicle ferry start from $150

Shipping fares for a previously opened ferry service between Mersin in Turkey and Tripoli in Lebanon would range from $150 for passenger cars to $1,000 for trucks, said the Central News Agency Friday. According to sources quoted by the CNA, the service would enable safe shipment of exports and imports as the security situation in Syria deteriorates. The line would facilitate trade with Iran, Iraq and European countries, the sources added. Turkey and Lebanon inaugurated the ferry service connecting the two cities last month. Two Turkish ships, a roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) ship and a ferry boat, began trips between the two ports earlier this month. The ferry can carry 700 passengers and can accommodate up to 170 cars, 25 trucks or 18 semitrailer trucks, the report pointed out. The ro-ro ship is mainly intended to carry semitrailer trucks.
