The negotiations on Russia’s sale of modern Su-35 fighters to China have been essentially “frozen,” Viktor Komardin, the deputy general director of state arms exporter, said on Tuesday. Komardin, who heads the Russian delegation at the DSA 2012 13th Defense Services Asia Exhibition and Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, explained that Beijing only wanted to buy a limited number of fighters, RIA Novosti reports. Russia and China have been negotiating the deal for more than a year-and-a-half. The Sukhoi Su-35 (NATO’s name Flanker-E) is a single-seat, maneuverable multi-role fighter, initially known as the Su-27M.
