
Sudan's Minister of International Cooperation Osman Ahmed Fadul expected that his country would obtain the World Trade Organization (WTO) membership in December 2017.
The Minister noted a notable progress in the accession process, highlighting the support of the Arab and African groups in that regard.
He added that the second round of negotiations with WTO included meetings with the United States, Japan and the European Union, noting that the meetings resulted in positive outcome which reveals that the accession process is on the right track.
The World Trade Organization members welcomed the resumption of the accession process and supported Sudan's domestic reform efforts through this process. In addition, members pledged to provide technical assistance to Sudan to expedite the accession process.
Sudan welcome the Executive Order by the US Treasury Department of January 13, 2017 which provides for revocation of the sanctions provisions Executive Orders 13067and 13412 which lift 20 years’ of economic sanctions on Sudan.
