Spanish PM: Spain not yet seeking EU aid

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has said a request for European aid is not imminent. It comes after a Reuters report, citing European Union sources, said the country could request help as early as next weekend. During a news conference at the Spanish Senate, Rajoy also said he had agreed a fiscal consolidation path for next year with regional leaders. Rajoy said they agreed to discuss how to share the deficit cutting burden between the central government and regions. Spain’s 17 regions, and local administrations, account for around 50 percent of the country’s public spending.
