Spain calls on Germany to show solidarity in euro crisis

Spain’s Minister for European Affairs Inigo Mendez de Vigo called on Germany to show more commitment and solidarity to resolving the current euro crisis, recalling, meantime, the assistance Germany received from other countries after the second World War. In an interview published today in German newspaper Bild, Mendez de Vigo said that Germany benefited, more than any EU country, from exports within the European Union. The minister also warned German politicians of talking about Greece bankruptcy adding that such talks reflect an undermining of Greece's fiscal efforts. Last week, German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler, triggered a wave of controversy over his comment in a TV interview saying that the notion of Greece leaving the euro zone, is not any more "impossible". He said Greece was unlikely to be able to meet its obligations under a euro-area bailout program, adding that under such a scenario, it won’t receive more bailout payments.
