
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held an expanded meeting with a delegation of COMESA under Dr. Amany Asfour, head of the business council of COMESA.
Present at the meeting were Minister of Industry and Trade Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour and Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman.
Sisi stressed the importance of COMESA as the largest economic gathering in Africa, presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said.
Egypt seeks to boost trade and investments among COMESA nations, Sisi said.
Sisi said that COMESA market is a huge and promising market, calling for paying more attention to the development efforts.
Commenting on the controversial issue of Renaissance Dam, Sisi said that Egypt is aware of "developmental aspiration of Ethiopia, but in light of maintaining the rights of Egypt in Nile Water."
Asfour said that the COMESA aims at stimulating private sector and promoting small and medium-sized industries and Intra-regional trade.
