HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture '&' Arts Authority, today visited the Market Outside the Box (OTB), the first eco-friendly concept of its kind to have been launched in Dubai, as part of the line-up of innovative events during the current edition of Dubai Shopping Festival. Market OTB, organized in collaboration with Emaar, the venue sponsor, was launched on 23 January at the Burj Park and will continue until 1 February. Sheikh Majid was welcomed at the event by Laila Mohammed Suhail, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), and the organizers of DSF, and other senior DFRE officials. Sheikh Majid toured various sections of the sustainable fashion and lifestyle marketplace featuring retail outlets that are operating out of stylishly refurbished shipping containers. Following the tour, Sheikh Majid expressed his appreciation at the efforts being made by DFRE to introduce innovative concepts and events every year during DSF. Market OTB is hosting 35 local and international retailers showcasing a diverse range of fashion items, artisanal accessories, jewelry, shoes, bags, home lifestyle products, stationery, vinyl records, art and beauty products, with home-grown organic food concepts providing delicious refreshments to visitors. The retail stores, cafes, and food kiosks at Market OTB is a green concept that is being introduced in Dubai for the first time with the aim of giving local and regional retailers the opportunity to showcase and sell their non-mass produced sustainable fashion and lifestyle products and offer visitors an open-air shopping experience. Market OTB is open throughout the week from 4pm to 10pm and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday it is open from 12noon until midnight.
