
The 6th Russia-Japan investment forum opens in the Japanese capital on Wednesday.On the Russian side, a delegation, consisting of more than 200 people and led by Alexei Likhachyov, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Economic Development, is participating in this large-scale economic event. The forum is co-chaired by Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.A plenary session is to be held at the forum on Wednesday to deal with refining the investment climate in the RF and opening up new areas of investment related cooperation between Russia and Japan, according to Russia’s (Itar-Tass) News Agency.Roundtable meetings will be also held to discuss the most important aspects of Russia-Japan relations. In particular, much attention is to be devoted to bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy-saving, automobile industry, and innovations.The delegates are also to discuss the development of relations between the two countries in the fields of medicine, transport, and infrastructure. An exhibition of the RF agrarian investment projects is to be arranged as well.Russia-Japan investment forum was instituted in September 2006. At that time, the sides signed a number of important agreements, including those on building a wood chemistry complex in Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as a memorandum on the manufacture of polyester fabrics in Tatarstan’s special economic zone “Alabuga”, on the processing of polyethylene containers in Kazan, and the establishment of energy facilities in Russia’s Far East.
