Peru wants to strengthen its ties with key partners such as the BRIC countries Brazil, Russia, India and China, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Jose Luis Silva said Wednesday. Silva said Peru wants to engage more in foreign trade with the countries to avoid being affected by the world financial crisis. He said the only way to the avoid negative impacts of the world financial crisis on Peru is to boost trade and financial relations in the region, as well as with other emerging economies. Peru will continue to develop commercial relations with key partners, especially with the BRIC countries, Silva said. The South American country is on its way to becoming an inter-regional trade and investment center, he added. Peru has abundant resources in fishing, agriculture and mining, which allow it to be more resistant to the effects of the international economic crisis than other countries in the region.
