France said on Wednesday that 14 foreign ministers would attend a meeting on Syria in Paris on Thursday to send a “strong” message to Bashar Al Assad’s regime. Visa issue British Prime Minister David Cameron said the Syrian athletes are welcome to attend the Games but ministers said that London could refuse a visa for Syrian Olympic committee president General Mowaffak Joumaa, an ally of Assad. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday warned Assad of tougher measures if he squanders his “last chance.” Clinton also said Syria was at a “crucial turning point” between advancing peace and deepening the violence, stressing it was “very concerning” that violence continued as UN observers deployed.
