Jeddah - Arabstoday

The Council of Ministers yesterday decided to set up a high-level committee, chaired by Labor Minister Adel Fakeih, to oversee the Saudization of operation and maintenance jobs in government departments. The committee will activate royal decrees and government resolutions relating to Saudization of jobs created by operation and maintenance contracts in the various government departments. The committee will present its annual reports to higher authorities explaining its achievements and difficulties, said Culture & Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja after the weekly Cabinet meeting. Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman, who chaired the meeting, emphasized the unity of Saudi society as well as security and stability being maintained in the country, attributing these to the Kingdom's implementation of Islamic teachings. The Cabinet expressed its optimism that the ongoing UN General Assembly meeting in New York would contribute to resolving international conflicts peacefully and reinforce security and stability all over the world. The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Ministry of Interior and the General Inspectorate for Financial Information of the Republic of Poland for cooperation in the field of exchange of financial intelligence regarding money laundering and terror funding, which was signed in the city of Yerevan on July 12, 2011. The Cabinet also approved a similar agreement with the Financial Control Department of the Control Commission of Belarus for cooperation in the field of exchange of financial intelligence regarding money laundering and terror financing, which was signed in the city of Yerevan on July 12, 2011. The Cabinet endorsed a general agreement for cooperation between the Kingdom and Mauritania, which was signed in Riyadh on May 7, 2011. It approved another MoU regarding political consultations between the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign, International Trade & Cultural Relations of Argentina, which was signed in Riyadh on May 18, 2011. The Cabinet authorized Minister of Finance Ibrahim Al-Assaf or his deputy to sign a draft agreement between the Kingdom and the government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in the field of avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion. The Cabinet appointed Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Khayat ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Sameer bin Jameel Ghazi director general of environmental standards at the Presidency of Meteorology & Environment; Muhammad bin Saeed Al-Qahtani director general of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance in the Asir region; and Fahd bin Nasser Al-Zaid assistant secretary-general at the Supreme Judiciary Council.
