Obama, Merkel, Monti talk on strengthening eurozone

US President Barack Obama spoke to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti Wednesday on the need to strengthen the eurozone, the White House said. "The leaders agreed on the importance of steps to strengthen the resilience of the eurozone and growth in Europe and globally, and agreed to remain in contact" ahead of the June 18-19 G20 summit in Mexico, White House spokesman Jay Carney said.
