Number of S. Koreans with over 1 tln won in assets rises

The number of wealthy South Koreans with assets of more than 1 trillion won (US$852 million) rose 32 percent this year from a year earlier with two self-made businessmen making the top 10 list for the first time, data showed Monday. The number of Koreans whose wealth topped 1 trillion won reached 25 this year, up from 19 tallied in 2010, according to the data by research firm Chaebul.com. Among those wealthy Koreans, six businessmen made their fortunes through their own efforts, not by inheritance.
