Number of employees at brokerage firms down for eighth quarter

The number of employees at brokerage houses declined for the eighth consecutive quarter as the local stock market wades in continuing slump amid lingering global jitters, data showed Thursday. The number of workers at 62 local securities firms stood at 40,243 at the end of the fourth quarter, compared with 42,802 a year earlier, according to the data by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
