Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works has said that UAE retains first position globally in infrastructure development especially the quality of road network thanks to the keenness of the state in building an integrated infrastructure of highest quality. "UAE has been keen on developing an integrated infrastructure of highest quality since it inception, that qualifies it to have an advanced rank in the global competitiveness indicators in the field of quality infrastructure, especially pertaining to roads, where the country occupies first position globally surpassing many advance countries," he said after a filed visit to a number of projects which are overseen and implemented by the ministry in Ras al-Khaimah. Minister of Public Works indicated that the ministry's policies in roads infrastructure aim to upgrade and develop the efficiency of the existing road network, especially those related to security and safety requirements, stressing the ministry's keenness on achieving the highest international standards in design and architecture particularly the green buildings as well as its compliance with eco-friendly and energy efficient constructions. The visit comes in the light of the ministry's approach in the field of close follow-up of work progress of projects and ways of developing them, in addition to meeting the needs and aspirations of citizens in order to achieve the national work programme, which has been launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and based on the UAE Vision 2021 and copes with the national agenda of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Minister and his accompanying delegation's tour included Sham Hospital and Al Qusaidat- Sham Road (second phase) which is being implemented within the initiatives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan at a cost of AED 142 million and is due to be completed at the end of this year. He also toured the RAK Academy Secondary School (first phase) which is located in Al Dhait North, Ras Al Khaimah.
