A Kuwaiti court on Sunday annulled a general assembly meeting and election of the board of directors of telecoms giant Zain, saying they were legally flawed, a lawyer said. The court acted on a lawsuit filed by former board member Sheikh Ali al-Khalifa Al-Sabah, his lawyer Rashed al-Radaan told AFP. The lawsuit was based on a commerce ministry report which cited a number of alleged illegal actions at the April meeting, Radaan said. The ruling is not final as it can still be challenged before the appeals and supreme courts. If confirmed, Zain, which is currently negotiating to sell its operations in Saudi Arabia, will have to hold a new general assembly meeting and elect a new board of directors.
