Labor Minister Salim Jreissati voiced his support Tuesday for the demands of gas stations owners' union, promising prompt and viable solutions that would save the country a planned nation-wide strike. Sami Brax, head of gas stations owners' union, revealed to the Minister that the strike was postponed, rather than cancelled, pending an answer to their demands, particularly concerning National Social Security Fund. "[Energy Minister Gibran] Bassil is not our enemy, he is responsible for us and our sector, and what happened was a misunderstanding and today we ask him to put his hand in ours, along with Labor Minister, to solve our issue," said Brax who asserted that Bassil knew the way out of this conundrum. "We supply the state with large sums of money, around twenty percent of its budget, hence the Minister must pay attention to us and our problems."
