Jordan customs foil diamond, gold smuggling attempts

The Jordan Customs Department's (JCD) anti-smuggling division personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle diamonds and gold. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, JCD Director General Ghaleb Saraireh said that the value of the impounded items was estimated at around JD49,000, while the fines and tax duties reached JD19,000. Saraireh underlined the department's efforts in fighting all forms of smuggling to maintain economic and social security in the Kingdom.
