Japan's PM selects economy, trade and industry minister

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Monday officially picked former Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano as the country''s new Economy, Trade and Industry Minister, current Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura announced. The 47-years-old Edano, previously worked as the top government spokesman, replaced Yoshio Hachiro, who resigned late Saturday from his post for making inappropriate remarks about radiation contamination in Fukushima Prefecture. The resignation came only eight days after Noda launched his Cabinet.
