Japan’s PM announces consumption tax hike

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he will raise the consumption tax as planned next April. Abe made his decision clear at a joint policy meeting of the government and the governing coalition parties on Tuesday, according to Japan’s (NHK WORLD) website. The consumption tax will be raised from the current 5% to 8%.
