Istanbul ranked first with highest exports in the first half of 2013. Anadolu Agency compiled Turkey's export data for the first half of 2013 from the data released by the Turkish Exporters' Assembly. Exports of Istanbul increased 3.1 percent compared to the first half of 2012 and accounted for 31.2 billion USD of Turkey's total exports of 71.4 billion USD in the first half of 2013. Ready made clothing ranked the first in sectors among exports with 6.2 billion USD. Goods exported to Germany made up 3.1 billion USD of Istanbul's exports. Meanwhile, Turkey's eastern Mus province had the highest increase in exports with 28.2 billion USD, corresponding to a 30.35 percent increase in exports in the first half of 2013 compared to the same term previous year. On the other hand, Turkey's northern Gumushane province had the sharpest drop in exports with 99.6 percent to 5,348,020 USD. In terms of sectoral exports, steel was the most exported good among 20 different sectors across Turkey followed by mines and metals and clothing. On a state basis, Germany ranked the first among the states Turkey exported, followed by Iraq. Exports of Turkey's southern province of Kilis to Syria also drew attention as it was worth 5.3 billion USD in the same term. Although Turkey's eastern region carried out the lowest exports, it entered records by having the highest increase in exports with 37.9 percent in the first half of 2013.
