Iran and Qatar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate bilateral trade cooperation, Tehran Times daily reported on Monday.
According to the agreement, Iran will increase exports of food and agricultural products, seafood, minerals and construction materials to Qatar, the secretary of Iran's Free Zones Coordination Council Akbar Torkan was quoted as saying.
"To this end, a piece of land in Iran's southern Bushehr port city has been allocated to Qatari traders and two pieces of land in Qatar's Al-Ruwais and Doha port cities have been allocated to Iranian traders to establish shipment facilities, warehouses and cold stores for their exclusive use," Torkan said.
Qatar was ranked the 33rd most important trading partner of Iran in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2014, according to the Iranian Customs Administration.
The annual non-oil trade between Iran and Qatar amounted to 114. 3 million U.S. dollars in the previous Iranian year (March 2013- March 2014), including 17.7 million dollars worth of non-oil goods that Qatar exported to Iran and 96.6 million dollars worth of non- oil goods imported from Iran.
