India's food inflation rose to 9. 41 percent for the week ended Sept. 24 from 9.13 percent in the previous week, due to sharp rise in the prices of milk, vegetable, fruit and protein-based products, official data showed Friday. Pulses became costlier by 7.54 percent during the week, fruit by 11.72 percent, milk by 10.35 percent, all on year-on-year basis, according to data released by the Commerce and Industry Ministry. The rise in fuel and power price remained unchanged at the previous week's level of 14.69 percent, while non-food articles rose by 10.77 percent. Indian officials have warned that persistent high inflation could greatly water down benefits from India's 8 percent annual GDP growth.
