The 55th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is due to start work in Vienna, Austria, on Monday. The Iranian delegation led by the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Fereidoon Abbasi, arrived in Vienna on Saturday. A wide range of issues, including the plans, programs and budgets, of the IAEA are normally discussed in the conference attended by senior nuclear officials of the IAEA member states. The heads of atomic organizations of the IAEA member states are to address the conference. The IAEA General Conference is the top legislative body of the UN nuclear watchdog and is formed of all member states. The conference usually holds annual meetings in September. The General Conference which will last for 4 days and ends on September 23 follows a weeklong meeting in Vienna of another IAEA body, the Board of Governors.
