Head of Tunisian government, Mehdi Jomaa, declared Sunday in Algiers that "huge" economic prospects are opened up for partnership between Algeria and Tunisia, calling for creating an economic complementarity between the two countries in sector of industry, notably car manufacturing. During a visit to the National Company of Industrial Vehicles (SNVI), based in Rouiba, east of Algiers, accompanied by Minister of Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Amara Benyounes and that of Energy and Mines Youcef Yousfi, Tunisian PM Jomaa said that the car manufacturing industry constitute a niche for both countries to develop partnership, hailing Algeria’s "industrial experience" in this field which is "complementary to the Tunisian industrial basis." In Tunisia, car manufacturing is developed and contributes, today, by up to 5% of GDP, he said. In this context, he urged for complementary fabric between the two countries in this field, especially as Algeria has big projects in the sector of automotive, heavy vehicles and generating sets, referring to the discussions taking place between the two parties on fostering means of cooperation "in the future." For his part, Benyounes announced that the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Committee shall meet soon, indicating that the two governments were instructed to discuss ways to support industrial partnership between Algeria and Tunisia. The SNVI Rouiba which benefited from a DZD100 billion development plan, includes three subsidiaries namely the subsidiary of industrial bodies, that of foundry, and the industrial vehicles. impression
