Greece, demonstrators storm defence ministry

Hundreds of civilian employees of Greece's defence ministry and workers with shipyards employed by the ministry staged a demonstration this morning in front of the ministry's gates in Athens to demand that their salaries be paid. The workers have not been paid for the past six months and will not be paid for another three, according to press reports, because of the crisis. At one point the demonstrators were able to open the heavy gates of the ministry and about one hundred of them stormed the square in front of the building and clashed with police officials in riot gear.
