GNPOC denies claims of hidden oil wells in areas of its concessions

Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC) has refuted allegations reported by some media allegedly claiming that the company had concealed some oil wells in the areas of its concession in the Republic of South Sudan. The company said in a press Release issued in Juba that the GNPOC is reputable international company that has been managing seriously the oil wells under its concessions and that it has been adherent to transparency and precise reports that are put forward to all the concerned parties on regular basis, including the official authorities. The release explained that according to the current information there are about 320 oil wells being administered by the company in South Sudan, 145 wells out of them are pertinent to production operations and other 50 wells are used to pump water while the other 125 wells are considered inactive and deserted. The atatement indicated that the company thinks that “there is some sort of misunderstanding about the data pertaining the oil wells on the side of some sources at an earlier time and the company would like to remove this ambiguity. The statement stressed that the company is still working in a professional and transparent way and according to international standards and practicing criteria and it would continue to do so in the future.
