Fed sees economy expanding, avoids new stimulus

The US Federal Reserve held firm to existing economic stimulus at a meeting Wednesday, as they tracked the "moderately" expanding path of a three-year-old US economic recovery. The Fed's top policymakers kept interest rates near zero and shied away from expanding stimulus spending, despite their own warnings that the recovery remains tepid.
