EU's "Six Pack" budget rules approved by parliament

The European Union's so-called "six pack" - a package of six legislative items improving eurozone economic coordination and budget discipline - was approved Wednesday by the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. The measures were voted through despite opposition from centre-left groups, which consider the "six pack" to focus too much on austerity, at the expense of growth-promoting policies, according to a report of the German Press Agency "DPA".
