EU to ban Iranian banks from using worldwide financial network

The EU intends to ban Iranian banks from conducting global financial transactions, the Brussels-based 'Euobserver' webiste reported today quoting unnamed senior US and EU diplomats. The Iranian banks will no longer be able to operate the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (Swift). Swift which has its headquarters in Belgium is a worldwide financial messaging network which exchanges messages between banks and other financial institutions.
