EU pledges 2 million euros aid for Indian flood victims

The European Union on Monday said it would donate 2 million euros (2.5 million dollars) in aid for the victims of monsoon floods in the north-eastern Indian state of Assam, according to dpa. Since they started in mid-June, the floods have killed over 100 people and displaced several hundred thousand. EU funds will provide relief for about 80,000 people, the commission said.
