Estonia seeks urgent export to Asia, Africa

Estonian government has called on authorities of Indonesia, Kenya and Tanzania to import its superfluous dairy products as part of the country's efforts to tackle Russia's import ban.
Ago Pyartel, Estonian Chief Veterinary Inspector has sent letters to authorities of Indonesia, Kenya and Tanzania to seek instant possibilities to address the difficult situation faced by Estonia's producers due to Russian sanctions, the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) reported on Thursday.
The report noted that a quick response from these third countries can not be expected as products need to satisfy the requirements of the destination authorities.
Estonian dairy and fish companies have been anxiously looking for new markets as Russia announced on Thursday last week a one-year import ban on agricultural and food products from the European Union, the United States, Australia, Canada and Norway, in retaliation for the Western sanctions against Moscow over the Ukraine crisis.
