Iran's Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayeen called on Azerbaijan's economic activists to invest in Iran's Maku economic zone.
"Maku region has appropriate capacity for investment and to this end interactions among investors and the region's officials can result in the economic development of the region," Pakayeen said on Wednesday.
He underlined that Maku region has suitable geographical location, rich mines, fertile agricultural lands and more importantly it is located in Iran-Europe transit path.
"We are trying to identify and curb the obstacles to development of Maku Free Zone in a bid to increase the cooperation for the further presence of economic activists in West Azarbaijan province," the Iranian envoy said.
Iran has recently enhanced efforts to boost political, economic, security and cultural ties and cooperation with the regional and neighboring countries, specially the Central Asian states, including the republic of Azerbaijan.
