The Arab Republic of Egypt’s exports to Nile Basin countries increased by 24.4% to reach LE5.542 billion in 2010 compared to LE4.456 billion in 2009. Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics stated, in its annual study of trade in 2010 between Egypt and Nile basin countries released on Tuesday, that imports also increased from LE1.507 billion to LE 1.521 billion. The increase is that of 0.9% The study stated that the Republic of Sudan occupied first place in terms of receiving Egyptian exports in both 2009 and 2010 with 70% and 60.1% respectively. Sudan’s biggest imports from Egypt were Iron and sugar.
