
China’s consumer prices rose 2.4% in March from the year-ago period, official data showed on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.Month on month, prices dipped 0.5%, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in line with expectations. Prices rose 0.5% in February from January.The acceleration in inflation was mainly attributed to faster growth of food prices,which account for nearly one-third of the weighting in the calculation of China’s CPI.Food prices gained 4.1% and contributed to 1.35% age-point of March’s CPI growth,the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.
