
Economic issues have been raised again by the candidates and their representativeswhile campaigning on Sunday for 17 April presidential election.On the 15th day of the campaign, Djelloul Djoudi, campaign director of WorkersParty candidate (PT), Louisa Hanoune, hosted a meeting in Bouira where hementioned the party objectives, namely "the construction of a strong economy" andthe setting up of a policy which will "end all the behaviors of some foreignpartners."He said that the "foreign direct investment did not bring solutions, neither createdjobs," adding that "the foreigners take their interests and depart."As for him, independent candidate, Ali Benflis, pledged during a meeting in In Salah,to establishing a "special plan of development" to the South region of the country,promising to solve the problems facing the local populations."This plan will stem from the resources of the South Fund," he said.The candidate of El Moustakbal party, Abdelaziz Belaid, warned, in Laghouat,against the "irrational" use of oil revenues, "a richness that is not eternal," he said,stressing the importance of finding other ways to develop the country withouthydrocarbons like agriculture.So, he called for expanding agricultural land and introducing modern technology inthis strategic sector, emphasizing the development of animal production.Belaid urged citizens to vote massively on April 17 for the man who works toguarantee the country's stability and relaunch the socio-economic development process of Algeria.
