
Bilateral trade between Cambodia and South Korea has reached 329 million U.S. dollars in the first five months of this year, up 12 percent over the same period last year, showed the latest figures from the Korea Trade- Investment Promotion Agency to Phnom Penh on Wednesday. During the January-May period this year, Cambodia's export to South Korea was 56 million U.S. dollars worth, up 4 percent year- on-year, while South Korea's export to Cambodia was 273 million U. S. dollars, up 14 percent year-on-year, the report said. Cambodia exported garments, shoes, crude rubber and agricultural products to South Korea and purchased from South Korea fabrics, autos, electronic goods and chemical products. Last year, the bilateral trade volume was valued at 720 million U.S. dollars, up 34 percent year-on-year, the report said. South Korea is the second largest investor in Cambodia after China. According to the figures of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the country has invested about 4.33 billion U.S. dollars in Cambodia from 1994 to 2012, while China's investments in Cambodia were up to 9.17 billion U.S. dollars during the period.
